Client
Les Précieuses is a digital jewellery magazine run by Sylvie Arkoun, a marketer specialised in fashion and jewellery.
Objectives
Shifting from a jewellery blog to an independent digital jewellery magazine, Sylvie wanted to refresh her website and re-position herself as an editorial writer for jewellery brands. With passions for literature, jewellery, beauty, and life, Sylvie has always written her articles as short stories, incorporating her own impressions, experience and personality, and reaching a niche audience of women similar to herself.

Solutions

Because of Sylvie’s writings’ nature — short stories — and the literary audience she reaches, we designed her website making visual references to books and literature.

Article blocs are designed as paperbacks that reveal article previews on mouseover, just like summaries on books’ back covers. The bright, peachy colors illustrate Sylvie’s lively, playful personality and complete her articles’ warm and personal tone of voice.

We combined subtle touches of a unique handwritten font to hightlight Sylvie’s witty personality with a classical serif font that immerses the user in a literary universe.

The article pages themselves were designed as books, splitting texts in two columns as opposing pages and punctuating those with quotes and photographies for a dynamic and immersive reading experience. The background is a discrete paper texture in fixed position for a subtle parallax effect, enhancing both the analog and digital aspects of her work.
